2010 Commercial Rating Revaluation
As from the 1st April 2010 all occupiers (and owners of property which is vacant) will be subject to the effects of the 2010 Rating Revaluation which will replace the current 2005 Valuation List. The draft Rating Valuation List for 2010 was published on the 1st October 2009 and most ratepayers will be sent details of their new assessment together with a breakdown of the valuation.
The 2010 Valuation List is based on the Valuation Officer's (VO) estimate of the rental value of the property as at the antecedent valuation date which is the 1st April 2008.
Occupiers will shortly be sent by the Valuation Office, details of their new assessments together with a breakdown of the new assessment if this is by way of a rentalised method of valuation.
Full details of the new Uniform Business Rate (UBR) and transitional arrangements scheme will be confirmed in November 2009. Appeals cannot be made until the Valuation List comes into force on the 1st April 2010 but Fox Lloyd Jones offers expert advice on all aspects of commercial rating which can lead to significant reductions in the level of assessment.
